Different circumstances for some

Daily Local News, 7/28/09:
Before judging too quickly the health care proposals now before Congress, we might ask ourselves a few questions:
Can I continue to pay for health care for myself and my family?
Could I always count on an employer to provide such coverage?
Will I be able to depend on the insurance company to equitably reimburse expenses?
Of course, those who have sufficient coverage, or think they do, may not be too concerned if someone else falls through the cracks. They may remain contented with the way things are. But what if that someone else is yourself? What would you do? What could family or friends possibly do? What might our economic situation be adequate to do?
These are personal questions each of us can answer for himself or herself. They are not, however, idle conjectures. Many have no insurance at all, and conditions can change without our fully knowing it. Such questions, and answers, will undoubtedly affect us all in the future with the rapidly rising costs and often unpredictability of health care in our country.
