The website for The Center for Food Safety has a link explaining the controversial Pennsylvania labeling law, making it illegal to declare which milk on the supermarket shelves has been adulterated with the use of Posilac, a growth hormone injected into our milking cows.  Monsanto is the patent owner and is lobbying in Pennsylvania, which could make us the first state to permit the advertising ban.  The trend throughout this country so far has been to declare the growth hormone, rBGH-free on all the packaging in the stores.  Even Starbucks nationally has decided to limit their milk sources to suppliers who don’t use growth hormones.

In addition the European Union, Japan as well as other countries have totally banned the use of Posilac.  Until proven totally safe I would highly recommend signing the Center for Food Safety’s petition  sending a clear message to Harrisburg to allow all packaging to declare whether our milk is rBGH-free.

As a political aside to this controversy, Troutman Sanders Public Affairs Group (TSPAG), an agribusiness lobbyist, has hosted “Rural Americans for Hillary” events in behalf of their clients which include Monsanto.  TSPAG current partner, Charles Hunnicutt worked for the Clinton administration from 1996-1999 as well as Mickey Kantor, a Clinton appointee & confidante who also served as chairman of the Clinton-Gore campaign in 1992.  He now serves as a member of the Monsanto Board of Directors.
